We, the senior class of 1948, solemnly dedicate this yearbook to the memory of its deceased editor, Robert J. Merkle, a model Catholic boy, who lived and died in the ways of Christ.
Bob was, and always shall be, loved by everyone who knew him; for his presence itself was a source of consolation and joy to us all. We will miss those rosy cheeks and that winning smile that were all a part of "Merk."
This book in itself is a lasting memorial to his tireless efforts and zeal. He had worked long and hard to give us the most perfect remembrance of our days at Campion.
The day on which Bob completed his work on this book was likewise the day on which God chose to take him for Himself; for on his way to Chapel, where he was about to begin the annual retreat, Bob's soul departed from from this world.
