Dedication To Honor Outstanding Effort, Service

It is only rarely that a man finishes Campion without having done some reflection on the faculty members who have helped train him. And it is only rarely that such reflection does not result in appreciation for the amount of hard work that has been performed on behalf of the students.

The young freshman, often away from home for the first extended visit, finds at Campion a devoted teacher and guide in the person of Father Francis J. Aspenleiter, S.J. For the last fourteen years, the graduate's recollections of his days in Junior Division necessarily include vivid remembrances of "Father A" and his ceaseless efforts.

As a teacher, Father is well known for his success in teaching Ancient History and Religion; he has written text books in both these fields. As a counselor and confessor, Father is just as well-known for his availability as for his understanding. For Father is always "there" just when he is needed. Whether it be for a pill or a pat on the back, the student knows that "Father A" will be ready to oblige.

JV Baseball has become Father Aspenleiter's own property; the midget football team regularly claims him as its mentor. Throughout the year he is organizing and running tournaments, elocution contests, letter-writing contests. In short, activity is Fr. Aspenleiter's existence.

The last two years have witnessed his rejuvenation of the Joyce Kilmer Library- another job that has taken many an hour in an already busy schedule.

It is this awareness of his ceaseless, unselfish, and Christ-like efforts for us that has prompted us to dedicate the 1962 Knight to Father Aspenleiter.
